Behaviour Capture and Test

Behaviour Capture and Test, or BCT is a relatively recent technique used in system diagnosis and AI character development fields, to monitor how a system, or player?s character behaves in a given situation, then capture the essential characteristics of the behaviour.

These characteristics are then compared to other, similar situations, to determine best fit. Characteristics that work better than already known ones are then used to replace existing behaviour.

In this way, behaviour of the system improves as more and more comparisons to other?s reactions are performed.

The Loebner Prize
The Loebner Prize for artificial intelligence is an annual contest, designed to put artificially intelligent chat programs through their paces. It uses the Turing Test for AI, as conceptualised by Alan Turing in the 1950 paper "Computing machinery and intelligence". In the decades since then, the Loebner prize is the first attempt to take the Turing test seriously, as a benchmark for AI.
